Mir-Expo 2024
From March 4 to March 7, 2024, the 19th international forum “Scrap of ferrous and non-ferrous metals” and the exhibition of technologies for recycling, recycling of recyclable materials MIR-Expo-2024 were successfully held at the site of the World Trade Center in Moscow. The events were organized by the Rusmet Rating Agency in partnership with the РУСЛОМ.КОМ NSRO Association. The annual event is the largest industry forum in Russia dedicated to the problems of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap for many years. This year, the event was attended by more than 1000 delegates and 75 speakers, including representatives of business, authorities, foreign delegations. The general sponsor was Translom, the silver sponsor was Business Orbit and Tinkoff Business, and the strategic partner was HuaHong Rus. Sponsors also include Mozen, Rosbank, Vtorion and Vtorium. The event was also supported by Metallocassa, Strong Machines, TKB Banking Group and Torg-Koms shopping center. The program of the first day started with a meeting of the working group on reforming personal income tax from citizens’ income from scrap delivery with the participation of members of specialized bodies – committees and commissions of the РУСЛОМ.КОМ NSRO Association. In the framework of the workshop for legal services, development and strategy directors, commercial services “Diversification of the scrap mining business before working with EPR and the production of finished products from scrap and waste,” the speakers were: Natalya Belyaeva, General Director of Delphi; Alexander Kurilyak, Head of the Audit Department of the Digital Platform Smart Eco Systems, Viktor Kovshevny, Director of the РУСЛОМ.КОМ Association; Dmitry Stukalov, Project Manager, Rusmet Rating Agency and Andrey Zelenin, Development and Legal Director, Rusmet Rating Agency. Viktor Kovshevny expressed an assessment that within the previous boundaries of the business, independent scrap collectors have no prerequisites for growth until 2030, or it is necessary to wait for a change in the situation with sanctions for the better. At the same time, scrap formation will grow in all market segments, except for lead. The speaker also presented analytics for previous years. On the first day, an open meeting of members of the РУСЛОМ.КОМ Association was also held. The participation of foreign delegations: Iran (Iran Recycling Association), Turkey (OTASAD – Turkish Association of Vehicle Recycling) and China (Association of Recyclers of Secondary Resources) became evidence of the Russian economy’s turn towards the Global South and East in the field of scrap procurement and metallurgy; reports were made on the activities of specialized foreign associations, including the exchange of experience in protecting business interests and the implementation of legislative initiatives. The Iran and РУСЛОМ.КОМ Recycling Association signed a memorandum of cooperation. One of the European industry associations, the Hungarian HOSZ Association of Recycling, also took an active part in the event. At the general meeting of members of the РУСЛОМ.КОМ Association, issues of reporting for 2023 and estimates for 2024 were considered, РУСЛОМ.КОМ proposals for fulfilling the instructions of the Government of the Russian Federation as part of the strategy for the development of domestic metallurgy until 2030, monitoring the state of the market in the regions of Russia were discussed, and applications were accepted for entry of experts into the committees of the Association. The event ended with an intelligent industry interactive “Own Game” on the knowledge of metal and scrap markets, waste management, ecology, technology and business partners. A special prize was awarded to the winners by Oleg Semibratov, CEO of Mozen. Mozen are experts in the development of payment services. Together with Alfa-Bank, the company developed a cashless transfer service for scrap collectors. The platform offers payments for all types of crowbars, providing convenience by filling out data once, automatically dividing into acts by types of crowbars and payments through bank transfers or card numbers. The second day of the event started with an interactive session on interaction with individuals in the field of cash and non-cash payments for scrap, in which speakers from the banking segment presented their products: Mozen; “Just’Bank”; Jump.Finance, Service Vtorium, as well as products from Almaz, Promsvyazbank and Rosbank. Participants were awarded diplomas “Reliable partner of the scrap industry.” Each speaker interacted with the audience, asked questions to the participants and summed up the discussion. In parallel with the Beznal session, the first part of the seminar on handling scrap and waste of precious metals and electronic equipment (OEEO) was held – the first part, in which the following speakers spoke. Ekaterina Radionova, Deputy General Director for Operations of ECOPOLIS Corporation JSC, spoke at the seminar with the topic “Features of waste management of electronic and electrical equipment.” Andrey Belov, expert of Sacha Corporation, formerly Deputy Head of the Russian State Assay Office
